Losec - Omeprazole

Mikey has been on Losec for about 6 months now. He had been having terrible stomache aches before that, but once started they stopped. He takes 20mg every morning, about an hour before he eats. The last few days though, he is getting really bad stomache aches again, but only on a night time. Could it be that he needs a higher dosage? Does anyone else take Losec and if so how much?

I take 20 mg twice a day. It kind of sounds to me like he has an ulcer. Maybe just watch his diet so he doesn't eat anything too acidic or spicy.

Wouldnt an ulcer show up on an ultra sound? Before Mikey started the Losec he was on Ranitidine - 150mg twice a day. He had an ultra sound to see if there were any problems but they should nothing. Thats when he was put on the Losec. Unless of course he has developed an ulcer since, hmmm. He has a hospital appoinment next week so Ill inquire then, unless it gets worse before hand. Thanks again!

i'm directed to take 20 mg twice a day once in the morning and once at night.. it works really well to keep the heart burn etc. away. i know my dietitian told me that losec can be good for your stomach and digestive system because it keeps the extra acid from getting into your intestines and upsetting the balance there.. or something along those lines ... i was officially diagnosed with "hyper acidic stomach" because once i get heart burn it doesn't matter what i do it doesn't go away i just have to wait it out
