Lost Pancrease, went to Creon, BAD-

So I lost my Pancrease like other here did.
They put me on Creon, which I was on for about a month. I had pain after each meal, terrible bloating/distention. Nausea, mild vomiting, Constipation-oh my, so bad. Just miserable.
Finally they ordered Pancreaze for me-the new pancrease. I'm on day 3/4 and I'm still very uncomfortable. Maybe I should expect it to take a few more days to adjust back?
I did a dose of Miralax just now-it won't hurt I figured.
Not to be gross here, but it just is...I am having BMs regularly (1-2) per day. But they are just so hard, and large. I have such bad cramping all over my stomach, wrapping around my sides.

Hey Christian, I'm afraid that switching back isn't going to take care of the constipation you already had. You need to get rid of all that old stuff. You are right the miralax can't hurt, in fact it will probably help greatly. Lots of fluids and activity. Perhaps even the dreaded enema. What ever your docs usually prescribe for you when you are constipated.

I sure hope you feel better soon. I know this has been going on so long for you.

Try Zenpep and you can get an Rx for Dulcolax generic at the pharmacy for less than most laxatives on the shelf. I've had GREAT results with Zenpep since February and they have a co-pay rebate ($50/mo) AND rewards program. Send me your e-mail and I'll send you an invite to the rewards program. I opt for the Amazon gift card every month.

the thing is, i'm pretty new to the gi stuff, only since switching to creon. if i'm sick or full of stool, they usually give me miralax or colace and that helps. i'm more interested about fixing the 'problem' though.
like you said a good cleanout is probably a good idea.

I was having some hard BM's a few years ago and was given a prescription for a stool softener...my apologies, but I cannot remember the name...then I gave up drinking milk and now I don't even need the stool softener anymore. I tried giving up cheese, but I LOVE cheese so that was difficult. Anyway giving up the milk was a huge help for me. Maybe that could alleviate some newer problems from arising for you?

I'm kind of facing the same thing. They've tried me on a ton of different enzymes since taking our beloved Pancrease away and nothing seems to do the trick quite so well. They still haven't figured me out (along with a lot of people! hehe). They told me to do a Miralax purge and then Miralax daily for a week after that... I'm still not feeling much better! The purge consisted of 225g of Miralax mixed with 64oz. of Gatorade and then drink SLOWLY!! it took me so much time to just drink the darn stuff! UGH! But.. you never know. I wanted to try the new Pancreaze to see if they would get me back to where I used to be, but they are cautious to do that. I've tried, Ultrase, Pancrease MT ???, Creon, ZenPep, and I think 2 others that I can't think of. I'm on Creon now, but they don't seem to be helping either.

I'm wondering if we will ever get this mystery solved. I lost over 15 pounds in a couple of weeks because of changing my enzymes so much. So, hopefully they can figure this out for you sooner rather than later! I miss my Pancrease!! IT worked so well for at least 20+ years and then they just took it away! How stupid! I feel your pain - literally!

Lost Pancrease, went to Creon, BAD-updated with a ?

I know nycra399. Another thing about fda, insurance, etc that drives me NUTS!! We need all of them, I know, but...sigh. Tell that to my stomach.

So what I can't find out is did they actually change anything about Pancrease-now Pancreaze? I was under the impression that basically only the name has changed.
Is that true? Bc if its not true and something about Pancreaze is different then I know for sure whats going on with me here.
