What was everyones LAS when they first met with the transplant team? What was your LAS when you were actively listed? I go on the 8th to meet with the team and needless to say I am extremely nervous and anxious. What do you talk about the first time, who do you meet with, what is it like?

I don't remember what my LAS was but I can tell you that when I first met with the transplant team, I wasn't on O2 and I was sitting around 40% FEV1. By the time I was listed (August 2006) I was probably in the 20% range with my FEV1 and I just started O2 24/7. When I was transplanted, I was sitting around 7% FEV1.

Getting that low that fast, is not the case for most people. They wouldn't have waited so long to list me but I got pregnant and I refused to terminate the pregnancy like my doctors wanted me to. Had I not gone through with the pregnancy, I would have been transplanted sooner.

I think my LAS was 37 when I was transplanted, I don't remember what it was when I first met with the team. I met with them in June, listed in December, and transplanted in February.

The first meeting for me was more of a "fact finding" mission. They ran the normal battery of tests (x-ray, blood, PFT, etc.) and then I talked with one of the transplant doctors. He explained the surgery a little and then focused more on the recovery. I came with a list of questions and my family ended up asking most of them because I was so nervous.

My best advice is to take a breath and go with the flow on the 8th. My evaluation was all in one day and it was a VERY long one, so rest up. Best of luck!!

my first appointment was more of an introductory visit. I met with a nurse coordinator and asked most of my questions to her. Then I met with 1 of the lung transplant docs and asked him the more involved questions that the coordinator did not know.

I talked to them and got their opinions on me without any tests first. I had taken some medical records with me to show them and that is what they went by in giving me their initial opinions.

I would recommend WRITING DOWN your questions because it is going to be difficult to remember everything you want to ask. I remember I asked all my questions but I had to write all the answers down because everything felt kind of strange ... almost not real at all. I felt like I was watching someone else's life.

It took me a few weeks beyond that to make up my mind and call back to set up my evaluation - my evaluation was set up over 10 days.

My first appointment I was also not using O2 by the time I was evaluated 2 months later I was on it 24/7.

Not sure of what my LAS scores were when I listed or transplanted I am thinking they were the same thing though because I was listed for 6 weeks. They never told me if I was at the top of the list or not either so who knows.
