lung pain

since last night i've had some pain in my left lung. i noticed it before i went to sleep and then during the night i had a sort of coughing fit and it was really painful then. i would breathe in deeply to cough and it would hurt (although not an extremely sharp pain) and i just didn't feel like i was able to do good cleansing coughs. i still feel like it is harder than usual to cough.

i was searching back through old posts looking at the symptoms for pleurisy, collapsed lung and lung plugs. i have had plugs before, so i know what that feels like. this is definitly similar EXCEPT that i seem to be having pain in many places--seems to be worst by my shoulder and the front of my chest. but i can also feel it in other places as well like down low and in the back slightly. from what i read, with all of the 3 above things, pain is usually centralized in one area; that is what is throwing me off.

my other symptoms are that i have been having the body soreness that i posted about yesterday for the past day or so and i have been tired/worn down feeling. i am also coming off of a cold, or rather a couple of colds, that i am not yet recovered from. i am not having noticable shortness of breathe. and if i have had any fever, its been slight.

thoughts? thanks!

Can you put your hand on your chest anywhere and find a spot that is sore? If you move one way or another does the pain get worse? If so its mostlikely muscke pain, or a bruised rib, or strained intercostal muscle. I was coughing hard the other night, and I have major soreness on my R lower chest. It is sore when I breathe in and out, due to the chest wall expanding and contracting. Hope this helps. Have you called your Dr?

Maybe you have more than one plug, if it feels similar? I don't know, I hope you feel better. Did you try the 'cure' for plugs?

What we did when Ry could feel it was had him drink a lot of water all day, then take a warm shower, then do an albuterol treatment, and then I'd beat the hell out of where ever he felt it...it worked fairly well. Good luck!
