lived most of my life not caring if I farted or not and I was even
married to a woman whom when I was away she said she misses my farts... I
thought this is a match made in heaven someone who loves me and my
farts.  <br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">Well
after that relationship ended I met another woman and she was not so
fond of my farts... I would blast her out of the room with them.  So I
went on a quest to find a solution to the problem.  First, I took the
LEAP food sensitivity test and changed my diet for over 1 year to
strictly adhere to the diet. (research wiki/Food_intolerance) and my
farting was improved but not great.  Then I went to a gastro MD and I
don't much like doctors that are not CF experts, and the doctor
suggested I use ALIGN (aligngi.com) and much to my huge surprise the
darn Align worked like a charm.<br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">Solution:
I take Align Probiotic once a day 7 days, 365 days a year.  And I feel
great.  My wife complaint about farting are down to about once a week
from about 6 days a week.  The cheapest place to get it I have found is
at Amazon.  If you find it cheap let me know.<br>
<br>
In addition, I have tried Farty Pants, carbon filtered rubber pants.  It
works ok but not great and Ozium commercial bathroom spray that
chemically breaks down farts in an instant.   Ozium works well, maybe to
well.<br>

<p class="MsoNormal">I'm glad the Align worked so well for you. But I was taking
Align, and it did nothing. I have had<span style="">  vicious,
foul-smelling flatulence since I was in high school. I had a surgery to remove
my colon? Maybe parts of my intestine? I don't even know anymore it was so long
ago. Anyway, I was told my flatulence was because of bacteria overgrowth. So I
was referred the anti biotic flagyl. Flagyl took care of the problem great-no
gas...but only while I was on it. The day after I stopped taking it, the
flatulence crept back into my life. I went through a decade taking flagyl every
other month, and I certainly don't have to tell you how uncomfortable and embarrassing
it can be in social situations to have constant gas!

<p class="MsoNormal">

<p class="MsoNormal">I finally got tired of taking an anti biotic every other
month, so I upped my enzyme dosage. That pretty much took care of the gas, but
it got really sketchy, as I was up to 14 creon pills per meal just to halt gas.
A few weeks of this and my side began to hurt. I took this as a giant red flag-
my body telling me that I am taking too much enzyme. So I experimented once
again. I lowered the dose considerably, to 4 a meal. It almost completely knocked
out the gas, but I felt exhausted, like I wasn't absorbing any food I ate. So I
upped the dose by 1 pill a day, and I arrived at the magic number of 7 per
meal. But I still had the occasional flatulent episode. I noticed then that
everytime I ate excess cheese that I had uncontrollable flatulence. But
drinking milk caused me no problems at all. I did some research and I came to
the conclusion that I am allergic to an ingredient in dairy called "casein."

<p class="MsoNormal">

<p class="MsoNormal">Nevertheless, I buy non-dairy cheese, and cut back
significantly on things that are composed of cheese. I can't totally cut cheese
out of my diet, as you know with CF I need all the food I can get, but I cut it
enough that it's no longer really a life-ruing thing to me, merely an inconvenience.

feel it helps my immune system, as I hardly ever get sick. That's saying a lot because
I second hand smoke 2 packs a day! All of my co workers chain smoke! This is
probably just a coincidence, but since taking Culturelle habitually, I no
longer require long acting insulin- just 3 injections of Novolog to cover
meals.

It sounds like you went on test and experiment of what works for you. Good work on tuning into your body to figure out what your body is requesting of you, decoding your body-language.

I too was on high dose, 12 enzymes and my doctors said if you are still gassy or loose add another pill or two, I thought to myself these guys are clueless as what to do, LOL. Then I read an article on the internet that suggested that high doses of enzymes may cause calcification in the g.i. track and so to do the reverse which is lowering the dosage to well below what one needs to help the intestines heal. I went from 12 down to 2 for 1 month and within 1 day I was experiencing the same results as if was on 12. So I knew I was heading in the right direction and after a month I began to add one enzyme a week until I was "regular" and my magic number was 4 pills. Since then I have added one pill, totaling 5 and it's been 10 years at least.

I think that the doctors just automatically have you add more enzymes because that solves it in the short run for most people, however, I think in many cases the opposite it also true. Less is more, beside these pills are getting crazy expensive.

My Uncle Mick used to tell me 'If you can't fart in front of a woman, she aint worth fartin' for'. That aside, this can be quite a problem. When I was looking for a mate I used to just hold'em during a date, damn was THAT rough! I started eating Activia. It works GREAT! If you eat that for 2 weeks just like they say, it works. Good luck.

I like your Uncle Mick's quote I will have to share that with my wife... She's now farting free and she used to hold them in. Our house is much freer and all because of the freedom to fart freely and a little work around with Align. Glad you found a solution that worked for you. I tried many different probiotics and Align is the only one that worked for me.
