Manual Chest PT

Any suggestions for the best surface for a child to lie on for manual CHest pt? My daughter's VEST pooped out again and I gave her her usual treatments and did manual chest PT on her. The positioning is awkward to do for so long. My elbow and wrist ache after doing PT for 20 minute sessions. The VEST is replaced already but I wish I had a table or something to do real good manual without getting tennis elbow.....

It's been awhile, but the most non-awkward position was having DS lay or sit on my lap, sorta straddling my legs. 'Course he has gotten taller, so trying to find a position for his legs takes some finagling. But it's much better than having him lay on the bed and lean over him. Wonder if you couldn't kneel somehow so you're not leaning above her.

She likes to watch TV when I do manual cause it's hard to really do anything else. When she was a baby I would put her on my lap or over my shoulder, I used less force for the CPT then too.

Now, I have her lie on the couch and I either sit on the side of the couch next to her or I even, straddle her kind of sitting on her butt and do it that way. She is a good sized kid and have to do it with such force, the repetitive motion gets to me. My elbow still feels weird from doing this 2 days ago. I was ready to put her on the dining room table but it's too hard a surface.

We had the windows open in the house cause it was a hot day; kept imagining our neighbors wondering what the heck I was doing sitting on my daughter's but and the loud noise of the CPT and my daughter saying "how much longer mommy?"

I find when I hold other peoples babies that I end up patting them on their backs giving them mini cpt sessions. DH's cousin laughs at me and handed off her son to me a couple months ago when he had a chest cold.

classic abdominal board/situp board along with a mechanical "thumper", is what I used as a kid. Or should say had used as a kid on me.

I have a percussor that I love. It's more consistent than manual chest pt and you can adjust pressure/frequency. I got it from Med Systems. My nurse called for me to order it and they sent me one before it was even approved by insurance. They were awesome!
