I don't have CF, but I got 12 weeks paid leave -- combination of sick leave and vacation. Half that time was spent in the NICU while DS recovered from surgery due to meconium illeus.
But basically it just took a few weeks to get the routine down -- feedings, sleeping, diaper changes, bathing... Also took about two weeks for the swelling to go down. I retained a LOT of fluid after ds was born. And don't get me started about those darned episiotomy stitches <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My work allows leave from the start of the pregnancy up until one year following the birth of your child - as in they will hold your job for that long.
I was paid for 6 weeks of that time because I had accrued that many sick days, otherwise the pay is 2 days. I was able to keep my insurance for the 6 weeks I was paid and then I was able to pay at the employee rate for another 6 weeks.
I didn't need a whole lot of time to adjust for baby and CF, but I did have to learn to not watse time - so I have to get my vest in when I can rather than when I want to - if that make sense?
I am scheduled to take off until my daugther is one. I left work at 32 weeks pregnant (she was born at 36). I think I am going to quit my job and go back to work when my daughter is older. But my husband isn't 100% behind that idea yeat, so we'll see.

I got paid 3 weeks leave before plus I had 2 weeks vacation left so 5 before then I paid for 8 weeks after and used 2 weeks new vacation for the eyar so 10 after. I also have a 6 month unpaid parental leave approved I chose not to use but it is approved until she is 1 year old I can take it any time.
IMO 6 weeks is absolute worst time to go back to work, they are in a growth s purt at that stage and my DD wanted to eat every our even though she was so full she woudl throw it up with each burp but it is really necessary to regulate your milk up and I couldnt imagine beign separated from her at 6 weeks and I know I wasnt ready to go back to work. Next itme I think I will take a full 12 weeks as they are sleeping a bit longer by then and everythign seems much more smoothed out by then
