I have been considering investing in a medical id bracelet/pendant. I would use it to let emt's know of my cf/cfrd/mrsa and allergies. I am interested if anyone has taken this step or has had thoughts about this.

Would love your feedback :)

I have a medical ID dogtag. I have everything I am diagnosed with on it. Which is the following:

Cystic fibrosis
diabetes
transplants:
lung-kidney
cochlear implant
prograf immunosuppressed

I am only allergic to two meds so we figured we didn't HAVE to have those on there. They only allow you a certain amount of space on the dogtag. We asked my doctor which of the most important things needed to be on it and that's what he suggested so you might want to ask your medical provider also. I think this is only really important if you have diabetes or serious allergies. I would consider it. Hope this helps <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I have one for my bleeding disorder and bronchiectasis. When I had a massive hemoptysis, there was a lot of initial talk about whether it was blood from my stomach. I knew it wasn't and was able to speak, but I don't want them wasting time if I am ever unable to speak.

I recommend getting one that is good quality and that you won't wnat to take off here and there. At first, I got a cheaper one and it broke because it couldn't stand the wear and tear of constant use. Now I have a sterling silver link one that looks pretty, cost about $70, and is totally waterproof.

I wish I could remember where I got it from...wait, email archives here I come:

My daughter has one. It starts with an ICE# (in case of)
Then it has her CF and diabetes insipidus, allergies.

We figure the phone number should be first so someone call start calling. The med list is very long and most people even EMT don't know all the drugs on the market.

The alert tag is a good investment. Call it peace of mind
