Maritza was just switched from pulmocort to flovent yesterday. I went to the pharmacy to get it and the price is just outragous. They want $60 for an airchamber which is just a plastic tube! That is on top of the $30 copay I will have every month (or untill they change her med's again)for the actual medicine. Plus everything else that she is taking. The copay for zyrtec has went down since it is avalibal OTC but she also has to take sudafed with it because it does not work for her alone. I have been so overwhelmed with the medical bills and dont really know what I am going to do. She does not qualify for childrens special heath care untill she is seen by a specialist and that is not going to be untill July. In the mean time we have racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills. It just makes me want to screem.

We only paid $35 for ours. We're on prevacid and robitussin and most of our copays are $30.00 as well. Can you get secondary insurance on her? The cost of the secondary insurance might end up being cheaper than the copays. Did you try looking at another pharmacy? We got ours at CVS. Also have you looked at the CF pharmacy at all? Sometimes it can be cheaper. Next year I'm definitely going to be taking all I can out on our flexible spending. I think that will help too.

I havent tried different pharmacies but I really like the one I am at now. It has been my pharmacy since I was a baby and I know all of the pharmacist very well. They always suggest things that might make it easier. I am going to be looking into secondairy insurence soon. We also have aflac but It doesnt cover stuff like that.

Have you ever heard of or tried the Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy? They are often much much cheaper than other pharmacies and they have programs to help pay for meds for the CFer's too. I don't know if there are any programs for the meds your child is on, but it might be worth checking into. They also do a lot of free things with purchases of certain meds too.
