I believe when I was a teen my doctor told me that CF girls usually start late. If you are concerned about that, you should ask your doctor though - or nurse if that's easier. Take care,--H2

Alyssa, I know how you feel. I'm 21 now, and I got my period the day after my 15th birthday. I know you have heard this a million times probably, but once you have it you will want to be rid of it! But yeah, CFers usually get their periods a year or two later than most, so don't worry! Mary

Hi Alyssa,It is proven that CF girls mature later than other girls their age. I didnt start my period until I was 16.....I was a junior. Dont worry....it is very normal! By the way, I'm 30 with CFDea

HELLO. MY NAME IS RHONDA. I STARTED MY PERIOD LATE. I WAS 14 YEARS OLD AND OF ALL DAYS TO START IT ON WAS NEW YEARS EVE.....LOL. BUT YES, PEOPLE WITH CF ARE SOMETIMES DEVELOPMENTALLY DELAYED, SO DON'T THINK ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU HAVE NOT STARTED YET. I AM 35 YEARS OLD AND WAS DIAGNOSED AT 13 MONTHS OLD. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TALK MORE, ETC. JUST E-MAIL ME AT AGENTXDX@AOL.COM PLEASE PUT IN THE SUBJECT LINE YOUR NAME AND ALSO PUT CF. THAT WAY I WILL NOT DELETE.HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU.RHONDA

Its completely normal for CFers to start their periods late. Also, even if you didn't have CF, 14/15 is still not that late for a healthy person to get their period-- some of my non CF friends are 15 and still haven't gotten theirs so dont worry

I dont have CF but didnt start my period till I was 16, the same age that my CF friend started. Just shows, Cf or not, we all develop at different rates.

I was almost 15 by the time I got mine, too. And it was the day before my first Homecomming dance! When you think about it, girls are getting their periods SO EARLY theses days, that it seems like us Cfers are the only ones getting it at the right time. Once I got a little older, I realised that most girls lie about when they get it anyway. Hang in there.Debbie23 w/ CF

I'm 23 yrs. old, and remember starting mine my first year of high school..which would have made me about 14. But, I do remember the doctors telling me that I may not start "on-time" and I may not have them every month. I would just talk to your doctor/nurse about it. But don't worry everyone is different! Take care! Megan

I am 31 with CF. I am very small in size...5'3 and weigh about 95 lbs (on a good day). In high school I was even smaller. I was 16 when I started my period (I was a junior). The docs told me that it has to do alot with size. The CF docs told me that it is common for CF girls to mature later than normal. It will happen for you...dont worry. Take Care!

I started at about 15, but I think it was due to my CF and my very small size. I have an aunt without CF who didnt start hers until she was 18...they say that if you dont get it by 18 you should see a doctor because some people need to have a estrogen shot in order to start theirs, but then it does it by itself. I think as long as you get it before 18 you are considered normal.

I started my period at about 15 but I wasnt regular until I was about 18 and I went on the pill. I have never had growth issues but my doctor said that just having cf can make your period be late and irregular.

I know this is an old thread but I'm really glad someone brought it back to the top. I've been wondering about this myself. I don't have CF but have 2 daughters who do. I started my period when I was 9... yes NINE years old...my daughter is now almost 10 and I am praying that she doesn't do the same thing. Considering the CF I am thinking maybe she will be a little older. At least I am hoping...that's just too darn young....

I started mine at 16 and am now 20 and still not regular at all, but I am underweight and I think thats why...I go about everyother month...sometimes less. When I gain weight I have them regularly, but when i get sick and lose I lose my period too....

Hey I'm 20 and I started my period when I was 15 had it for a week and then didn't have it again until I was 17. I'm still incredibly irregular, so don't worry about it.

Hey
I didn't start mine till I was almost 16 years old (and I was also worried that I hadn't had mine yet). However since then I've only had two. I've been told that the reason I've only had two is because of my weight (94 pounds...however I don't think it'll last long, I have a tendency to drop down to 90 and stay there, in fact I'm rather shocked I'm at 94 at the moment) and when you don't have enough "meat" on you (so to speak) then your body doesn't want to waste energy by having a period. I'm sure you'll get yours in due time, but don't worry yourself about it.
