RECAP: For those of you that don't know, I was formally diagnosed as infertile this past January after TTC for 2 years!
The best answer to the source of my infertility was this...
My right ovary functions 'perfectly fine'; however, the egg was/is gettting 'lost'. It never makes it to the tube. The best guess is that scar tissue is present between the tube and ovary thus preventing the egg from getting to Point B after OV. The HSG came up 'normal'. No laproscopy or surgeries can be performed to know for sure. I had a burst appendix 14 years ago that made me lose 3 feet of my colon. If the remaining colon were to be punctured, I could end up with a bag for the rest of my life...BASICALLY, THE RIGHT SIDE IS USELESS...
My left ovary has PCOS. I had many immature follicles with a rather large ovarian cyst. Also, my bloodwork showed higher levels of testoterone and high cholesterol. However, the high cholesterol ratio is that found in patients with PCOS. Also, I failed my 2-hour glucose test yet passed my A1C. It is clear that those eggs had issues; however, it is unclear if any scar tissue is present between that tube and ovary. BASICALLY, LEFT SIDE MAY HAVE HOPE...MAY. If PCOS is the only problem, I may have a chance. If there is any scar tissue, than I might as well forget it...
Unless we do IVF...
Regardless, the fertility specialist claimed that I should see an endocrinologist and start on Metformin to help with my IR (insulin resistance) and PCOS. When I contacted my CF doctor, he said there is NO POSSIBLE way I have Type 2 diabetes due to the fact that I have CF. He was for the Metformin but said that I would have Type 1 not Type 2. My CF doctor really didn't see a reason to start any diabetes-like medication so I wrote it off until now...I have been 'borderline diabetic' for years and years...
I setup an appointment next week to see if Metformin would be something for me to try. My sugars aren't that bad at all, but this should be something I should look into, right? It can't do any harm, right? If anything, it will at least help with the mood swings, lower back ache, and occ. cramps when it's that time of the month.
Unlike PCOS patients, I DO get a period every 29-30 days. My cycles are rather unremarkable. I do have many facial breakouts, though. I used Proactiv for years. The ovarian cysts are really the biggest problem. They always have been...
I am coming off 3 weeks of IVs tomorrow so I want to start putting the pieces back together. I have a nasty yeast infection too right now and the ends of my period. IT WAS RIGHT ON TIME DESPITE THE IVS WHICH SUCKED...IT'S NEVER LATE. I'M SURE THE LEFT SIDE WAS TRYING TO OV THIS PAST MONTH TOO BECAUSE I HAD ANOTHER CYST...I'VE BEEN HAVING SOOOO MUCH FUN LATELY...
Also, I printed out the Couch-2-5K run plan that Nicole mentioned to start getting in shape again. I know I can handle 3 days a week. I should be good for another 1.5 - 2 years again since that's my average record.
