monitoring swallowing

For the past 2 months my 4 month/cf son seems gurgerly sounding in his throat (mostly after he eats). The docs say it is not in his chest. Until he coughs or clears his throat it stays there. We keep him in an upright position for half an hour after he eats or he would spit up. I normally put him on his stomach to get it clear. The docs said that I should ask my new clinic for his swallowing to be monitored. That some maybe going down the wrong way. Anyone with expereince with this? Is this normal for cf newborns? Thanks for any help.

As an adult w/ CF, I have to constantly clear my throat because of stuff that collects at the back of my throat, maybe this could be it?? Hopefully other moms w/ CF children can shed some light on this.

Hi Belinda,

I just posted to your other topic. I had the same thing happen to my 3.5 month old too!! We were told it was reflux and she was on baby zantac, it did not go away and then they put her on previced. I am not sure she really has reflux , but we still give it to her. I believe it was related to her sinus infection. My pediatricion said it might be soft cartlidge(can't remember the term for it)in her throat which she would out grow?
If you have any other questions please email me~ i like keeping in touch with others that have infants too, to bounce questions off of!!!
