Did any of you have overwhelming cravings for salt during your pregnancy?
When I was pregnant with Jaelyn, over ten years ago, I ate so much salt my coworkers used to tease me and tell me they would buy me a salt block and I could go to town etc. I mean I would eat whole rock salt crystals, pour sea salt on everything. It was just a crazy craving to me at the time. Some women wanted Whoppes, I wanted salt, so what? Ya know?! I told the docs how much I was eating and this was my only craving, they told me I had a form of Pica, craving non food items, etc and so long as my blood pressure/blood work was ok, everything was fine. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was her taking all of my nutritional stores due to the CF and that was the cause of the cravings. But thinking back on all the signs that led up to Jaelyn's diagnosis in 2005 at age 3, this was the first one. I wish I would have dug a little deeper at the time but obviously of no consequence now. I just wanted to know if I was the only one this ever happened to. I would imagine probably more common but you never know, could have been an isolated incident. Thanks for sharing your story!

No with both of my boys who both have CF and were diagnosed at birth I craved sweets. With my oldest it was cinnamon roll and with my 6 year old it was Oreo cookies. With my youngest who is a girl non CF it was pancakes and milk. I didn't have any cravings for salty foods. Hope this helps.

Hmm, CF patients loose the salt through sweating, right? But an embryo does not sweat.
Am I thinking correctly?

Nope! The only pregnancy I craved salty things was my middle child, the one kid we know without a doubt does NOT have CF.

With Emily I craved loaded baked potatoes and MEAT. I could have eaten at a steak house every night, lol.

I don't remember any craving with either child. My second child was very un CF like as in she was 2 weeks late and 10lbs and nearly 23 inches long. She was so big Icouldonlyeat about a cup of food before being full. Being pregnant with that childwas what I think gastic bypass surgery would be like. And my daughter is still a giant in the 97% percentile in height and 90% percentile in weight.
