MRSA and a 504 plan

Josh's 504 update is this week and I wondered (given the recent news about MRSA) if anyone else has a 504 that addresses this issue.

SOmeone at his school was diagnosed with MRSA this week and after talking to the school nurse I am concerned about how school custodians handled the cleaning process. The nurse said she didn't thing much was done about cleaning even after they were told to do so by the DPH.

Is it a good idea to include something about this in a 504, or is it something that would be impossible to adhere to? Obviously I know we can't keep our kids in a bubble, but just having it in writing might encourage the school to be more aware of the situation.

Any ideas?

I can't really speak much on this because my daughter was withdrawn from school shortly after she cultered MRSA but it was in her 504 with the school. The doc did think it was important but I'm not exactly sure how it helped her or the other children because business was still as normal. She did however use the "teacher" bathroom at school but that was AFTER I found out that the other Cfer at her school had Cepacia so I don't think that had anything to do with it.

I believe that if your school hasn't stepped up the cleaning after the DPH advised that they should that they could be in trouble for that. JMHO
