MSRA-who needs to know?

Both my girls have tested positive for MSRA in their lungs.
In general, they are both healthy and active teenagers. 14 & 15 yrs old.
I worry that out there in the world, MSRA would label them as infectious. Does the volleyball coach need to know, what about their dentist?
When they go on field trips, is this something I need to notate on their medical emergency slip? I do mention CF and Albuterol and their Ibuprofen dosage.
The CF docs say it's not something they can pass on to the regular population, but they are very careful at the clinic.
Anyone else have any insight?

Deb,

Good question. I would say the dentist would need to know, for your daughter's benefit as well as taking special care to dispose of equipment, cleaning of equipment etc.

As far as volleyball coach, my guess is they do not need to know. Your daughter's are old enough to be able to dispose of tissues, waterbottles properly. People at risk for MRSA are other people with CF, cancer patients getting chemo, individuals with a compromised immune system, someone with HIV/AIDS, people with chronic lung condition(for example an elderly person with chronic pulmonary lung disease).

Its no big deal to someone w/o Cf. Alot of us probably have it and we dont tell everyone we have it or go get checked for it. No, you dont have to tell anyone. The only places that need to know it are their drs. That is because it can be harmful to people with CF or other diseases ect....

It is really not a big deal other then it can cause problems when they get sick. My twins drs keep a pretty good handle on it.

BTW~ they are only 2

It's no big deal to someone with a working immune system.
It is a big deal to someone whose immune system is depressed (say because of cancer treatment or AIDs or who is on mega steroids, or other reasons) so if you've friends or family with these situations you need to work with them to keep everyone safe.
