In all honesty, unless those children have cf, open wounds or are immuno compromised in some way, then, I think the children will be ok. <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>
This is not true.
To calm the friends/fam nerves I suggest you do a little research on the internet and find a credible sourced article about how the majority of healthcare workers in America culture MRSA. Not to say they have a topical outbreak or it in their lungs necessarily but mostly in their nasal passages. THis article will be educational to those that have only heard the freaky news reports.
In fact, I'd reakon if you had your dh and ds throat or nose swabbed they both culture it. It's all over your house
For those cfers goign to the hospital for clinic visits or admissions (which is all of us) it's only a matter of time before they culture it. I've also heard that MSRA is expected to be gone with only MRSA present in the next 5 years.
On a personal note I started culturing MRSA after delivering my son at hospital. The most intrusive procedure I had was an epidural (one more reason why I was avoiding it I digress). He cultures it too. They do not treat MRSA unless there is a symptom (cough, blister, etc.) because treating it agressively sets the stage for PA (in cf - my son and I both have cf). I have had to treat my MRSA he has not...yet.
