mucousy toddler w/o diagnosis....

I posted before about my toddler who hasn't been diagnosed with cf but I am very concerned due to growth issues and stool issues..but another thing I thought about tonight is the fact that he has always been mucousy. He seems to have outgrown GERD but was treated for the first year of life..he is now almost 17months. As an infant he used to gag and heave every time I fed him...it wasn't a simple spit up...it was very stressful gagging and a barking coughing up..used to worry every day that he would aspirate...the carpet in my bedroom is destroyed next to my side of the bed from all the throwing up over the edge of the bed in the middle of the night!! Now that he's outgrown that horrible phase he still seems to be very mucousy...every time he cries he ends up choking a bit on the mucous and gagging and heaving............anyone else see this prior to or after diagnosis????????

Also, recently he keeps hanging on to upper respiratory congestion too...doesn't sound too chesty and was told 2 weeks ago by the pediatrician that he had a simple cold...but it won't go away and it seems he's been like this a lot this winter...I do realize it is the season for this stuff though and being a toddler I know he's extremely prone to picking up germs just about anywhere we go, not to mention my 3 other school age children who bring home every germ possible from school!

looking for peace of mind but can't find it...guess I should just insist he be tested.

Rosie, from all you have said about your son, I would definately insist on him being tested....it isnt going to cost the dr anything to do it and it could be a big benefit to your peace of mind and your son's health.

Rosie, I agree with Debbie - take your child and insist on having him checked. It's so hard when it's our child - that "not knowing" is so hard!
