Mucus colors

Is anyone familiar with mucus colors and what they mean? I remember there was a thread a while back that listed some but I can't find it.

I know green is an infection, and yellow is normal for me. But the past week I have been coughing up clear/white mucus. Never in my life have I done this. It looks like saliva but I know it isn't because I can feel it coming from my lungs. I told my DR about it at my clinic visit when he asked about bringing stuff up and he just nodded and went on.

Thanks for any info!

Green is usually Pseudomonas. Other colors such as brown and yellow indicate other types of bacteria.

White or whitish, is usually good for me and means my infection is in good controll. Is the white thick, or runny. Runny would be good.

Just about every single morning I have a dark green sputum...but by the end of the day it has cleared to a whitish or clear color. For me, it's been like that FOREVER....just a rainbow day! It's funny cause I usually feel great no matter what color it is.

That happens to me too...or when you start doing your meds, it gets lighter. That is because the mucus has been sitting in your lungs during the night, not moving around, so its probably dried up a bit.

I will be interested in seeing other's responses for this...mine is usually green in the AM. Then it gets yellowish green or yellow
