Does anyone else experience this and/or know why? Which mineral or whatever is he not absorbing properly so that even washing huis hands makes them look super prune-like?

Another puzzler is what does he lack that his teeth turn a bit yellow-gray?

Anyone?

prune skin has been discussed before, but I cannot remember why it happens -- my guess is it has more to do with the extra salt escaping the body through the skin than lacking in a mineral, but I could be wrong about that.

Is he on antibiotics? It is my understanding that teeth can yellow because of the drugs (usually antibiotics)

thanks! so, should he then eat more salty stuff? he would definitely like that!!!

as to antibiotics: just here and there for a "cold." he doesn't do dairy (alas!), but he takes calcium supplements and has soy milk...

My daughter's hand and feet look like that too after baths and pool time. Pretty sure it has to do with the salt imbalance with CF. Extra salt is ok for Cf'ers, my daughter must have salty pretzels every day, loves them. She's known to lick salt off chips and not eat the chips. Antibiotics can discolor teeth, make sure you brush them at least 2 times a day.

Thanks, ladies.
You know what's pathetic? When I first mentioned this to the docs at the CF clinic a few months ago, they all looked mystified! This is just one more reason why we're working feverishly to change our insurance and get to the hospital/clinic with better ratings in our town (Chicago).

Yes, definitely eat more salty stuff, especially during hot days -- people with CF will typically dehydrate more quickly than others -- it is especially important that they get extra salt, water, electrolytes (Gatorade) if they are outside/sweating/playing or working --
