My daughter is now midway through her tobi cycle this month, and started getting sick with a cold, so we had to start pulmicort a couple times a day. In addition, she does Pulmozyme in the evenings. Just at one sitting in the evening, she's doing three neb treatments back to back. Can this be causing her excess burping, or do you think maybe her enzymes need adjusted? No weird stuff going on with her bowel movements or anything. I'm going to bring it up at our next visit, but just curious if anyone else has the same problem?

Tracey, mom to Sydney - 8 and Seth, 4 - both with CF, DDF508

Just a thought, but my daughter was burping and gassy. She wasnt having abnormal bm's either. I told our CF docs and they couldnt do much tweaking her enzymes so they told me to ask her GI dr. The GI doc said sometimes kids get some bateria in their bowels that need some antibiotics to help clear it out. The bacteria causes gas. Oh man did she stink. They also upped her prevacid. They put her on Bactrim (sp?) Its been about a week and the gas is gone. We are ALL happy. Not sure if this will help.

No, I haven't tried probiotics...but that's a good idea. She just started augmentin two days ago, so maybe if it is something in her bowels, it may help...although, it seems to be more burping than anything - which she seems to think is the funniest thing..<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Anyways, I was just thinking maybe all that breathing in and out with treatments could just be filling her with air.?. Does that make any sense?
