My girl is grown up...

My girl started Kindergarten today. I cried all weekend but composed myself at the school. She was ready to go at 6:15 this morning! Normally I can't pull her out of bed at 7:30. I am a stay at home mom with just my 2 yr old CFer home with me now. Watch the floods when it is his turn to start! I'll probably have to camp out at the playground until after school.

It does go fast. I use to hate it when people would say that to me, but it is so true!

I know how you feel. My daughter is going into 2nd grade this year. When she started Pre-K I had the whole family at the house to see her off which was good because the bus came 30 minutes early. All we had to do was throw her shoes on. 2 people did that while I put her jacket & backpack on. We didnt get the pictures in the morning only when she came home.

My son started kindergarten yesterday also. He was very excited and found a friend in two seconds, and barely said bye to me. I was miserable all day. He is my only child and I am so sad that this chapter of our lives is over. I didn't cry until I went to Mcdonalds to get some breakfast and realized I wasn't ordering for two. I crawled in bed, ate chocolate and watched cheesy daytime tv until it was time for me to pick him up. He loved his first day and was beaming with pride as he showed me the picture he colored. He was soooo tired and hungry when he got home and actually took a nap (he hasn't done that in about six months). I miss him terribly but am so grateful that he is healthy enough to go to school. Time really does go by way too fast!!

I know how you feel! My little girl is starting kindergarten a week from Monday...I can't believe how fast the time goes! She is totally counting down the days. I am excited for her, but nervous at the same time. She has been in day care for quite a while now so it isn't as if I haven't been away from her, but this just seems different. Anyway, just wanted to post!

Cassie started Kindergarten this week and yesterday I had to pass out threats to her to give me a kiss and hug before I left her. She said it's just embarassing in front of everyone. WHAT? She's 5! She also wanted to walk alone and I said absolutely not, so she asked if she could walk and I could just drive beside her slowly. OMG! I'm not ready for this independence thing!

Shelly,

Cassie reminds me of Coll - I was (internally at least) very worried about Coll's 1st day at school. The school had a brief period where the parents stayed, and when it was time to go, many of the children started crying, clinging to the parents, etc. I went over to Coll, she turned briefly and said "Bye Mommy - have a good day!

Kathy (SeasonsOfLove) not logged in b/c on very very slow dial up!

It's definitely harder on the parents I think. There were more crying parents than kids! When Cale starts...I don't know what I'll do. Right now he's such a Mama's Boy, I can't leave the room without him following me. No matter how hard I try to make him more independent. They are so different from one another!

Kathy, I take that as a compliment if Cassie is like Coll. She is such a well rounded person.

I remember my beautiful daughters first day of school. What a special day and I too drove home in tears. Now she is nearly twenty, works full time and attends her appointments on her own and only tells us what she wants to. I am soooo proud of her and all that she has acheived. I still cry through all the phases that come with CF and I usually feel much better after letting it all out.
Proud Mama
