Do you have any children because you mentioned "...about the future of my sons".
There are now many options out there for people who have CF and are trying to have children. There is In vetro used in combination with intracytaplasmic sperm injection for the female, and a sperm retrieval method called microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration, used to get sperm from the male with CF. The cost of these procedures are fairly high though, about $10,000-$15,000 in the US depending on the procedures used and the facility. But yes, it is possible. I have been in contact with a woman who's husband has CF, and they used the method I listed above and now have 2 healthy children (they are CARRIERS of the CF genetic, but DO NOT have CF because their mother did not have the mutation) from 2 separate pregnancies. My husband has CF and we are starting the ICSI/in vetro process. It's about a 6-9 month wait at our clinic, but I will post our results on this site.
If you have any more questions, post them and I will try to answer.
