My husband has pneumonia

Ok, I 'm freaking out. My husband no CF has pneumonia. He's had this terrible cough for a while and was treated with zithromax which didn't help. Yesterday they put him on Levoquin . He's starting to feel better even before the levoquin. Anyway, I'm just so nervous , MAggie with CF will get some nasty bacteria from my husband. She did start with a little cough last week but it sounds like in her throat. She is on prophylactic antibiotics anyway but what else can I do? BTW, her CF doc is not in today. i hate dealing with anyone else. We have a routine appointment with her CF doc on Tuesday and i definately will have him culture her to make sure she's not growing out any new bugs. My poor husband can't really relax either because he doesn't want to be near Maggie. I told him I'm sure a neighbor would let him take a nap at their house(we have awesome neighbors). but he doesn't want to do that either.

What else can I do. We Purell like crazy. My husband will bring masks for himself home but he's really not coughing so much now....But has already coughed everywhere before we realized it was pneumonia.

Just feeling super stresssed.

Just be deligent in your childs treatments & doing the best with handwashing etc. Gettign time for your husband to relax might be more difficult, but it will all be ok.......one way or the other...DEEP Breath!

We were a little nervous around the holidays 'cuz DH's aunt got pneumonia. We were told as long as she didn't cough on him or cough on surfaces he touched, he should be fine. She'd been on antibiotics for over a week and her cough pretty much stopped at that point, but we were still careful and she was careful.

When DS came home from the hospital one of the NICU nurses gave us a package of disposable masks to use when one of us got a cold or a cough and both DH and I have used them once or twice when around DS. Plus we wash our hands like crazy -- I sneeze or blow my nose, cough, I wash my hands. I cough into my shirt -- after I leave the room.

Ugh, I am sorry to hear this. I hope he is better soon and that everyone else in the family is able to avoid it. The cold/flu season really sucks but hang in there - it should be coming to an end soon!

Hugs,

I spoke with my daughter's regular ped(just cause I hate to miss anything). he said my husband is probably not contagious unless he actually coughs on Maggie. Just to to the handwashing and hygiene stuff we do anyway. He wouldn't treat Maggie unless she got sick because of getting resistance. Maggie probably just has a little cold like me right now. I called my husband at work and he say he feels fine but he knows I'm a huge worrywart so he'ld say that anyway.

Anyway, I'll defiantely have her cultured on our clinic visit this Tuesday. I hope she not culturing anything new.

This does suck. Thanks for all your input. I don't think the general public get how stressful this can be.
