HI, I have a 10 year old brother whom is about to have a treatment called the Ibuprofen Treatment. I am nervous about him having this treatment because they said something about IV's, and I guess I am just a natural worrier. I would like to know more about it not only so I can understand him, but also I did a fundraiser last year in school to raise money for research. I am hopeing to do another next year and would like to have all the info I can. I have already written reports and other things, but for some reason I've never heard of this treatment untill now. -Carmen

I would say it's a pretty low-risk treatment. As far as I know, it's just the ibuprofen you use at home (instead of taking Tylenol or aspirin) and it's designed to limit inflamation.
There are a couple of people on these boards that do this, hopefully they will let you know how it's helped them.
As far as IV's, I'm not familiar with that.

My son was on the Ibroprofen treatment for awhile. Basically he took 5 Ibroprfen 2 times a day. They did several blood test to determine the corect dose according to his weight. He has absolutely no problems with at all

It did at the time we used it. When Cory cultured Cepacia we had to stop usisng it because of the need to daily predisone and a handful of antibiotics. He could not be on the predisone and the Ibuprophen at the same time. Prior to the use, Cory would go into the hospital every 3-4 months sometimes more often. When we started the Ibuprophen, he was only hospitalized once a year. For us, it was definately one of those things that I wish we could have continued to use
