Hi,

Just wanted to pass on the good news... My sister (w/CF) and her husband are awaiting their son to be delivered. They had to go with a gestational surrogate (using my sister's egg and my brother in law's sperm) in order to conceive this baby. My brother in law tested negative for CF (at least a lot of the common mutations).

Their surrogate was going to be induced tomorrow at 39 weeks, but after going to the dr yesterday afternoon, she is now in active natural labor at 4 am!

So, I'll post when I have the specifics.

Ok, fast forward nearly 6 hours... I have to remember that this is NOT my labor and I have to keep my mouth shut on how it was done. :)

Water was broken artificially at 7:30 am. She continues to have contractions, but definitely has slowed down since the water was broken. She's 6 cm as of 10 am and no further updates since my last text at 11:45am. Epidural was placed.

He's definitely my sister's child -- he is taking his ever loving time to arrive. This surrogate delivered ALL her kids quickly -- now that this is our "child" her body doesn't seem to be in a rush haha.

OK, she has progressed...phew... 9 cm and is going to push soon! I am so very happy for my sister... this is really something my family never expected... my parents having 3 cf kids, never assumed they would ever be grandparents...

I really want to go down there now! I have to be patient... I am heading down there tomorrow after my phil final... I probably won't even want to pay attention to the test!
