<br>I decided to start NAC and bought some at the health food store. Do people take it when they are sick? before they are sick? everyday? Has it helped? How? Thanks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

<P>I just recently bot nac at health food store as well, after reading the posts here about Pharma s fizzyNAC....so im not too sure myself sure but would like to know more about NAC as well.</P>
<P>I take 1000mg a day and take it every day.....its suppopsed to help with inflammation</P>
<P> and decrease sputum amount. I started Sept 14, havent noticed asnything yet.</P>
<P>My dr. said there has been a trial going on and results will come out in november for NAC and CF.</P>
<P>at my clinic they currently tell people with pulmonary Foibrosis to take it.</P>
<P>apparently NAC facilitates  production of glutathione which decreases inflammation in airways....</P>
<P>if you google  " clinical trials of PharmaNAC for CF" ...the article should come up....</P>
<P>BUT FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE would be appreciated....in the meantime I ll take 1000mg daily....</P>

thanks liz. one finding is that it didn't help at all. but they don't now about logn term use yet. am sick right now. mucous sitting in my upper bronchials. won't go down, won't come up. not sure what to do at this point. took mucinex, nac, drinking tons of water. hit myslef on the back. antibiotics.

Hey LTA, when mucus gets stuck like that, I find that doing a completely different clearance technique can usually move it out. E.G., I usually do flutter, but if something gets stuck, I will do vest, or even manual PT.

<br>My 6 year old was told to take 1,600 per day and he does not have severe mucus issues in the lungs. His cf is mostly gastro and sinus so far. Maybe increasing the dosage would help.
