So after attending the Stanford CF Education day in person, I became very interested in NAC. I tried to get in on the next round in the study they're doing, but my FEV1 isn't high enough (isn't that always the case?) so I decided to go for it on my own. The doctor running the study at Stanford, Dr. Carol Conrad, said that the only place she recommends purchasing the product from is BioAdvantex, out of Canada. This is the exact stuff she's using in her study. In the study they used 900mg three times per day.
That can get pretty pricey, so I ordered a one month supply of 900mg tablets, but am only taking it twice a day (what BioAdvantex recommends). This works out to 1800mg per day, which is what Sakasuka takes only she's doing 600 mg three times a day (if I'm not mistaken). I'm just trying it for this month - if I'm going to stay on it, BioAdvantex has a frequent purchaser program where they send you 6 months supply at a time with free shipping, which is a big money saver in the long run.
Been on it for a week and only thing I've noticed so far is that my pee smells funny <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
