Nail and Bacteria

Hi folks, Does anyone have a link to any literature that discusses fingernails and bacteria? (specifically false nails and the potential dangers they have in a medical/hospital setting?) Im work at a hospital and the workers (nurses etc) arent allowed to have fake nails, especially the ones working in newborn, since infants are more susceptible to infections....

Thanks for the link and for your input. I've been googling all night and can't find anything substantial besides most medical facilities recommending any and all staff have only natural nails. I guess there's a clinical trial starting in Scotland that is studying Cepacia in the nail bed....but I have no results yet. Thanks for your help!
