Nasty nasty mucus

I need to vent- I guess there is not much advicce to be given on this topic.

I am sick yet again...with the NASTIEST tasting mucus I think I have ever had. With each cough, some comes up, I gag, then puke. I haven't held anything down in a day. Just started Bactrim and cannot get this horrible taste out of my mouth no matter what I do.

I am on anti-naseous medicine. With what I am coughing up...I don't think anything can keep me from being nasueated.
What do you do?

Is there anything I can eat/chew on/ drink to help. Give me your tips!

Since your nauseasness is bothering you a lot I would ask the dr for a prescription for either zofran or phenergan. I prefer phenergan, it seems to help a lot more in my opinion. Zofran kinda prevents it better though I think.

I think the nauseasness is probably being caused though from swallowing your mucus, so definitely try and hack that sh*t out!

Phenergan is a pretty nasty drug, even if effective. I would try the Zofran first, they make sublingual versions so puking it up isn't as much of an issue. If Zofran isn't an option, (it is expensive) then I would choose compazine over phenergan.

Thank you! I am going to ask about Zofran. I am currently taking Phenegren and it just isn't helping...if anything, adding to the problem (so it feels!)

Oh the joys of having CF.

If your insurance only allows 12 Zofran pills per month, you could try Compazine. It works for nausea as well. I agree Phenergan does not work well except for putting one to sleep.

just a thought....

if you are still doing the anti-fungal diet/herbal route this might be from that and getting horrid stuff up is good, I had this happen to me. I am in no means sying stop your antibiotics but just consider whether its from killing off your yeast.

I would do high dose probiotics, herbal supplemetns, ask for diflucan, and try to stay the course on whatever yeast treatments you are doing because being on antibiotics will turn the field in their favor and I know you were working hard to combat them.
