Hi, im Nick and i am new to this forum
i have never really talked to anyone face to face with the same condition as me until this forum. But I used to be very sick when i was younger. i am now 21 years old and havent been to the hospital since i was 15. i believe that on top of medication that we should try to figure out what works for us as far as natural remedies. i have a couple things that i have been practicing that have made dramatic improvements to my condition. for example I now have changed my diet to 75% fruit smoothie in which i drink 32-40 ounces 3 times daily. it consists of 1 banana, 6 strawberries, about 4-6 ounces of blueberries, and 100% orange juice which i blend up thouroughly to get all of the nutrients out. i practice other things which i can talk to you about over email if you are interested. i truly believe that this condition is like a blessing and has made me the the person i am today and i will never resent the fact that i live with cystic fibrosis.

I drink a smoothie similar to that, but I add Scandi Shake to mine for weight gain. I also believe that my condition has made me the person I am today. I live everyday as if it were my last with no regrets, have an open mind to a lot of things, and am a very understanding and compassionate person - all this from having CF.

Hey-23, female, with CF too. I'd love to know some of your other tips. I'm in the hospital about 1-2 times per year. I'm always interested in anything "natural or homeopathic". And I have a strong stomach, I don't even care if it tastes gross. However, I have more of the lung component, and never a problem with weight.
I'd love to hear some of the other lung, energy, or immune system pevention things that have worked for you.

hi nick,
i use natural remedies as well...my grandma is always giving them to me or telling me about them. i'd be really interested in talking to you about some of the other things you do. my email is marcumar@aquinas.edu
also, i have pretty much the same belief about cf making me who i am today, i sometimes lose sight of that, but it always comes back to me.

hi this is nick, im replying to the posts,
well this whole condition has really taken me a long time to figure out i really started to engage in curing myself when i was 17 years old. this is something that i still work very hard at everyday. basically everyone is different and you must figure out your own condition. which is sorta difficult. when i was 17 i was probably taking every medication the doctors could push at me (ultrase mt 20, 5 per meal, miralax, toby, dianase, albuterol, advair, chest pt 2 times a day). but today i only take 1 ultrase mt 20 per meal and nothing else, i rarely even have to do chest pt anymore. i have probably tried almost ever natural herb and whatever out which by the way has not worked for me. i did have to figure a couple things out that my body is allergic to that i notice reacts to after certain kinds of food for example i found out that i am allergic to all dairy and any product containing corn product in it. i also found out that animals make my condition worse than it should be. As far as my diet goes i stick to basically drinking the 75% smoothie drink and food that i know my body will not react adversely to. i have only been doing the smoothie drinks for about 8 months now and they have probably been one of the largest benefactors in helping me. i then also practice in meditation. i start out by doing a very effective breathing exercise which is where i will sit in a cross legged position on a comfy couch or chair, close my eyes and then breathe in as deeply as possible the holding the air for as long as i can (try to hold your breathe even while you are trying to cough opens the airways and makes them that much stronger) i do this for about 15 minutes 2 times daily along with meditation following. the next things are smaller aspects but still important. you must always keep a positive attitude, do not ever consume yourself in the negative,do not read material talking about the condition itll only bog you down, never be around stressful situations, try reading a couple books on how the sub-concious works and meditation, and keeping the most positve attitude you can, if you are able to get into your sub-concious then you will be able to control your body depending how serious you are about it. practice this religiously and i hope that i help you. i know that i still havent fully cured myself and i always like hearing suggestions becuase i will most likely try or do anything becuase im not afraid of this so shoot me a thread and we can keep this topic up
