Nausea making me crazy!

I have been off of Zyvox for one week after a 14 day course for a Staph Infection. I am also on Lasix. I know both of these can cause nausea. I started getting the nausea on the last day of the Zyvox. Have been on Lasix for about 5 weeks. Seems like the only thing that helps the nausea is Xanax. I am really going crazy here. I am trying to recover from this last illness and the nausea makes it impossilbe to do anything but lay around. Anybody got any suggestions. I know that lots of drugs can cause interactions with each other. Here's what else I take.

Albuterol Nebs, Spireva, Serevent, Singulair, Lasix, Vit K, Potassium, Halcyon, Xanax,
Lantus, Novalog. Pancrease, Pulmicort, Prednisone.

Hi,

Nasea is the WORST! I hate it! My doctor gave me an Rx once for phenergan to use in extreme cases when I was naseaus for whatever reasons (migraine, anxiety, etc.)... Perhaps this is something to discuss with your doc? Last time I was on 750 mg. of cipro 2-3 times a day, my doc also gave me an Rx for zofran, which is even stronger than phenergan, but I never needed it, except for once, and then it gave me a terrible headache, so the side effect was too strong to make it worth taking again.

I also know saltines were good for me... at least it was something in my stomach, cause an empty stomach is sometimes worse and saltines seemed to stay down (even if I just nibbled on ONE cracker all afternoon!)

I hope you get some relief. I'm sorry I'm not much help. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I just come off IVs and had terrible nausea. My doc gave me Zofran. It's more expensive than Phenergan but it doesnt have the sleepy side effect. When I have bad nausea I follow a diet I learned from my Ped doctor. It's called the BRAT diet. B-Banana, R-Rice, A-Applesauce, T-Toast (plain). You can basically eat anything bland, soft, and clear. Nothing too sweat or fatty. Also try Ginger Ale, Coke Cola, Saltine crackers, & Grits (plain). If you try the BRAT diet, do it for about 2-3 days and if you start to feel better, slowing introduce yourself to other foods. Hope u feel better soon.

don't know how much help I'll be here, but last time I had a horrible time with nausea was when I was on zyvoxx. It got worse each day I was on it. My doctor prescribed me zofran. It helped a little, but not enough to make me feel like eating anything. He finally took me off of it and wrote on my charts that I was allergic to it since the nausea was SOOO BAD. It could be the zyvoxx for you, see if there's something your doc can prescribe for you in the mean time, you might have better luck with the zofran, and since you're nearing the end of the zyvoxx, you might start feeling better. Hope everything goes alright for you.
