nebulized antibiotics via sinuses

Hi,

I'm just wondering what antibiotics you take that are nebulized for your sinuses. I have the Pari SinuStar Nebulizer and currently use it with Pulmozyme. I want to talk to my doctor about using an antibiotic via nebulizer for my sinuses because I have an AWFUL smell constantly in my nose and know it's pseudomonas. I've had sinus surgery, but it doesn't last more than 3 months. I feel like if I can get the bacteria in my sinuses under better control, then maybe my lungs wouldn't be as bad.

So, here are my questions: Remember these are nebulized antibiotics for sinues only.

1) What antibiotic do you use?
2) What dose?
3) How often do you nebulize it (1xday, 2xday)?
4) How long (weeks, 28 days)?
5) Who prescribed this to you, your cf doctor or ent doctor?

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi I also have the Pari SinuStar and I use all different meds in it. I am currently on anti-fungal meds thru it as well as my pulmozyme. I have also used tobi for my 28 days on then 28 off. I nebulize the tobi just as i do my lungs which is twice a day. As for dosing i use the same tobi i get for my reg pari neb. For who prescribes thats my ENT as well as my CF doc. Hope that helps. But I would not start unless you doc's ok the meds first esp if you are using tobi already you dont want to overdose and cause hearing and or kidney problems.

If I remember right (and I'll ask the nurse to look it up this week) I think the one I used was Cephtaz (the cat pee smelling one, whatever it's called, lol). I used it for pa, and my ENT ordered me an Aeroneb Go nebulizer (similar to Pari's eFlow or whatever it's called now, but easier to deal with ) with a special nasal neb attachment. I nebbed it 3x/day (ideally - usually at least twice, if not 3 times) for 28 days. Worked like a charm! If I culture pa again this time, I'm asking for it again, cat pee smell or no cat pee smell!
