Nebulizer compressor

Hi everyone - I am fighting with my insurance company to get a new compressor for Jason's (7) nebulizer. I am getting confused with all the info I am getting. I am coming to the experts for a definative answer. I know Jason must use the PARI neb kit (cups) for the correct particle size to be delivered for some of the cf meds. Does it HAVE to be used with a PARI compressor? When he was first diagnosed that (the entire PARI system) and that is what we got. That is also what we got when we needed a new one. Now it is time for another new one and the last one broke - it was dropped and therefore not covered under warrenty. Of course now the insurance company and the Durrable Med companies are saying we only need to use the PARI neb kits(cups) with any neb compressor, not nec. the PARI compressor. I am awaiting a call back from the cf clinic. But I knew I could count on getting the correct answer from all of you. Please tell me what you know regarding this. Thanks! Jo Ann - mom of Jason, 7 with cf and Tom, 10.

To my knowledge it does not matter what kind of compressor you use, they pretty much are all standard on their PSI. As for the pari nebs it really isn't that the neb kit is the only one that produces the partical size, it just so happens to be the one that they did all of the clincal trial testing with. I have made this comment before and got some hate mail for it, but...I will say it again. I don't think it matters what kit you use so long as it is of good quality. I would recommend one with a particle size of 3-4 microns and exhalation valves, that medicine is way too expensive to waste.
