Nebulizer for babies

We have another CF clinic appt on Wednesday. My son is almost 6 months old. Last time, the dr told us he was not going to add a neb to our daily routine as it is questionable if they really help with cpt (when healthy). I am going to ask again this Wednesday. I think our CF center is doing a fabulous job and my son is very healthy. I just wanted to get some more opinions on this before we go. Thanks!

We've been doing nebulized albuterol/atrovent since DS was about a week old along with 3-4 cpt (now vest) treatments per day. Nebs (bronchiodialators) work to open up the airways.

Our local clinic didn't feel it was warranted unless their were symptoms and would tell us that we didn't need to use them, but we stayed with our CF doctors recommendations.

We are doing hypertonic saline, nebulized, and two puffs of albuterol twice a day using a bronchiodiolator. Sam is four months old. I think it's good to use the nebulizer even if it's just for saline because it gets Sam used to the machine (the noise and holding something on his face), that way if he ever really needs it to inhale antibiotics, he'll be an old pro. I've been thinking of asking to add Pulmozyme to our routine because his mucus is a little thick. Anyone use Pulmozyme for a young baby as preventitive?

DS has been on pulmozyme since he was 2 1/2 years old. Not a teeny tiny baby though. He started Tobi when he was 2 or 3 months old...
