My car died. It's ok because it was a "mom car" (Dodge Caravan). Looking for an upgrade.

Ok, so what do you all drive. We wanted a Toyota Highlander but just drove a Honda Pilot and LOVED it.

Its all so complicated

We got a Acura Mdx SUV last year. Love it. Cute and young looking for a SUV, but very roomy and comfy inside. We bought an 03. I love it.

I own a Suzuki Swift, with fog lamps. aero package and 5 sp. manual, but don't think it's available in the U.S.
Besides, a "mom car' has got to have at least a V8!
Depending on where you live, a Diesel engine (with turbo) is known to have lower emissions, and with the high torque, would be easy to fit a load of soccer kids in it without being bogged down.
Though, if you drive like my mom (getting us kids to hockey on time), a high efficient V8 sport utility vehicle would probably suffice!
Going as far back as 1979, my mom had a Pontiac Grand Prix, with a small block V8 with spunk--saved us kids from a lot of detentions!! (So did mom's driving!)hehe!

My guy and I have an older car that we got used this year. Its a total 'grampa' car - only driven once a week for groceries type thing, no rust, no one has ever sat in the backseat, and it only has 60,000 clicks on it. Its a '99 Chevy Lumina. It does the job - gets us place to place, so I have no complaints of it not being a new car.

We have a 96 nissan pathfinder and a 2005 honda accord (accord is in my parents name, we pay them for it). We tried to get by with 1 car, but with my military hours and Mark's school projects, it was a NIGHMARE.

Well, now that we are expecting triplets we are looking at vans. SUV's weren't an option for us because you still have to crawl over seats to get to that third carseat in the back. We are going to sell the Pathfinder and are considering hanging onto the 05 accord or trading it in for an older 4 door civic (only 2 kids would fit in it at once and Mark would have to be the passenger-same with the accord) but it would get me to and from work.

But, to answer your question... if you are looking for a van type of thing I would HIGHLY recommend the Honda Oddsey!!!! I love that car. It drives like a sports car, handles like a sports car, beautiful and well thought out inside!!!!!!!!!! We have test driven the Nissan Van, the Toyota Sequoia, the new dodge, and the new chrysler and nothing compares to that oddsey!!!!!

Good luck with your car searches. Mine are giving me a migraine

I love toyotas. Ry and I both had them, and I refuse to buy anything else. They go and go and go, and just sip gas. I drive a Toyota Corolla, and so did Ry, but we loved the Toyota Prius when we test drove it.

I agree, Julie! We wanted an Odyssey before the Caravan but they were backordered 6 months!!!!!! We were on the Toyota lot looking at Siennas when we ended up with the Caravan (great deal-then). We didn't like the Sienna as much as the Odyssey. With 3 babies you gotta have an accessible car!

By the way- we bought the Pilot yesterday- Pick it up today. YAY ME!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

Glad you picked one out!!!!!

I like the pilot too. Mark and I were looking at it but then realized that we would have to climb in the trunk, or in one of the second row seats and kind of "toss" a third baby into the back. Not ideal for us, funny to think about but it would just be a headache

I LOVVEEEEE The oddsey though!! I've been looking trying to find 2005's because the only difference between them and the 2006 is a few thousand dollars. But woudn't you know, NOBODY is selling their 2005's????????? COME ON PEOPLE, sell your 2005's!!!!!! We also considered a 2004 or 2003 but we did some research and the body frame in 2004 and before is diffrent than the 2005's and newer and they have had some serious totals that could have been prevented in the new body style-something about it being in all 1 piece instead of 3 pieces or something like that, caused the entire car to crumple instead of just a "zone". Don't want to take that risk. And the side curtain airbags and sliding second seats really appeal to me with 3 infants.

What color did you get???

I just saw the Toyota Highlander and I fell in love with it... I really am thinking about buying one in the near future.. I am kind of torn. because I know it sounds crazy, especially since I am finishing school and all, but I am weird, and I don't want to have a car payment that high...

Ive got a 94' pontiac grand am that's run well for 6 yrs now with
very low maintainance or repairs. They are very common, but they look
nice enough,(two door anyway)and are decent on gas.Big enough that
you should put up a good fight in a crash.I would like to trade it
in on a newer one soon if i can afford it.I would love to get an
suv/truck cause i like being higher up,but i doubt the govt. will
foot the bill on one.

Jennifer, We liked the look of the Highlander too. Sometimes you can find good deals on newer used ones.

Julie, That really says something that no one wants to sell their Odesseys. The safety features are amazing. We bought the silver Pilot, but we liked the Sage too.

"toss the third baby into the back" LOL
