Need Help

Hello,
I have a friend who has had three sons pass away with CF. Her husband died of a heart attack. Her two remaining sons 17 and 15 also have CF. Her 17 year old will be turning 18 and his SSI benefits will be cut off. Does anyone know where to go from here? She needs an advocate to help her obtain information. This is such a sad situation. I was one of the sons teachers and it is heartbreaking to see the mother struggle. They do not have very much money. I would appreciate any information or help.

Since he is turning 18 he can reapply as an adult. If his CF is bad enough he may qualify for disability (Social Supplementary Income).

Incorrect terminology on my part it's called "supplemental Security Income."

He could speak with a social worker at the CF center or hospital that he goes to for CF care. They will help him know what route to take, and where to get help and proper medical coverage.
