Neil-Med sinus rinse question

I'm curious how people clean their sinus rinse bottles. The instructions just say to use soap and water, but they are not directed to people with CF. I'm concerned about the fact that tap water can carry pseudomonas. So I have added another step to sterilize the bottles. I rinse them with hydrogen peroxide and then rinse with sterile water. However,I don't know if this is necessary or if I'm just making extra work for myself. I asked my daughter's CF doctor yesterday. She said she had never considered the question, but she thought sterilizing was a good idea. She didn't know if the hydrogen peroxide was the best way. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm a bad influence with sterilizing things in that I typically don't very often.
I do however use clean water either through a PUR filter or a jug of purified/distilled water.
Then I put it in the microwave for 20-25 seconds to get the water at a comfortable warmth and hopefully kill some bacteria on the nozzle.

A microwave is actually not a bad idea. I use a microwave baby bottle steam sterilizer for nebulizers. It should probably work for sinus bottles too. Funny that I never thought of it before!

I put the bottle, cap and straw in the steam sterilizer (Avent IQ24) we have. I was worried it would melt or warp at first but it did fine. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
