Hi.. I guess I don't know where to start.. I'm 28 years old, I've been sick most of my life, recurring respiratory problems and chronic digestive issues but it was only last month I stumbled across a Dr who was able to figure it out. Partially I guess a late-diagnosis was my fault. When going to my GI docs I wouldn't mention respiratory problems because it never occurred to me they could be stemming from the same problem causing all my digestive issues. I'm tired and worn out but still excited because even though my doctor managed to find the problem, he's been practicing 20+ years and never had a CF patient, but Deaconess Hospital in Evansville managed to get me an appt last Friday for tomorrow morning. It's a bit of a drive, but I'll take it with the hope I can finally get some relief. I'm tired of being 28 and feeling 88.
I'm originally from central Indiana, but moved to W Kentucky with my husband after he finished his time with the Marine Corps.. I've got a beautiful 3 year old little girl and 2 dogs... I also like long walks,....okay sorry, I've also got a dry somewhat unfunny (at times) sense of humor.
Hi everyone.

Welcome to the site. I'm kinda new here too, been on for only about 2 months, our 3 1/2 month old has CF. I am glad to hear that you may finally get some answers. Good luck with your DR. visit, make sure to post about what happens. People on this site are very helpful.

Welcome to the family!

The drive to a for medical care with CF is often lengthy. I live in NY & drive 3 hours to my clinic in the heart of NYC, but I love my CF Team!

I know its difficult to be a mom with CF & cant imagine getting such a late diagnosis, but it will help you in the long run.

Hope to hear more from you!

Thank you both I think it is rough on my girl, I just can't play like daddy can. It's hard having my toddler ask if I'm okay during a coughing fit. I'm just looking forward to relief. Finally, I'd be happy with just a little. I know there are people worse off, it's just so grinding to feel like poo for so long without being able to find anything that helps. I know people here understand that
I'd say the first couple years of my marriage my husband thought I was exaggerating how I felt...Trust me I've got a high pain tolerance, I've been so used to the stomach pain/gas/yuck I went 3 days after my appendix had ruptured without going to the doctor because I thought that flare up was just a bit worse than the others.. Oops, lesson learned. At least I can't make THAT mistake twice.
I've been through my share of wacky doctors, one GI even prescribed me Opium for the diarrhea... Not a good idea. Made my stomach knot up and didn't help a lick.
In retrospect I'm glad to be a mom with CF. I'd had two miscarriages (my daughter was actually a product of one, turned out there were two in there but we only lost one) and I feel blessed even more so now that I know I'm lucky to have her.
I tend to ramble, I don't have many people here to talk to, especially about this. Hubby is semi in denial and the in-laws are babying me. It's all new to me and with my nasty history with doctors I'm just hoping tomorrow's appt is productive and good.
