New Insurance won't let us use CF pharmacy

My husband is a state employee so we have pretty good insurance, but on July 1st they are making some changes. We now have a prescription card that only lets us use certain pharmacies. They have their own specialty pharmacy where we must order our pulmozyme and Tobi. We will have to get Zenpep and Cayston through our local pharmacy which is on their provider list. I called the local pharmacy and of course Cayston isn't even in their computer. I don't like this. I like to support the CF pharmacies. Also, don't the CF pharmacies help you find assistance programs when you need financial help?
Anyone else have an experience like this? Is there anything I can do?
Thanks,

Have you had the CF pharmacy check for you? I seem to recall that our BCBS preferred pharmacy list didn't include the CF pharmacy, but when they check for me, I found that it did.

We mostly use our local pharmacy as they can get me just about anything and their prices are fairly competitive.

We went through the very same thing and it was so frustrating. It took me months to get all of the prescriptions straightened out. But, it did eventually get worked out and is fine now although, I agree, I hate not supporting the CF Pharmacies.

You might be able to get your CF Pharmacy call your new medical provider to try and work it out. They know the right things to ask. I'm not sure which one you use, there are two, the one for the CFF and the original one in FL called CF Pharmacy with "Grandmom Bev" who started it cause her grandaughter has CF. Both are so willing to help and make the calls.

Good luck- I hope it goes well. Just get started right away in transferring everything before you run low on meds. It always takes longer than we think.

Hugs,
Lisa

This happened with our insurance at the beginning of the year, and I was very upset. It took a while to get everything transferred and routine, but now it really isn't a problem. I would go in and talk to the actual pharmacist at the local place when they aren't busy and introduce yourself and talk to him about CF and ask how to make sure they will carry what you need. Most places try to be very helpful. Good luck!
