New Sheets

ok I just got new sheets and love the color but new sheets always itch me. I washed them and added fabric softner but they feel like sand paper lol Even the 400 thread count sheets bother me. They need to be washed one hundred times before I can feel comfortable in them.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to speed up the softening period?

only thing I can think of is let them soak in fabric softener and leave it over night, rinse and then do a complete wash with a regular cycle, include the fabric softener.

I know that sheets that have a higher thread count will soften more and more after every wash nicely. To speed the process up, I do know that you can try using less detergent, and add 1 cup of white vinegar to the first rinse, or add an extra rinse cycle. Make sure to wash in hot water as well.

don't know about sheets, but during the tanning process for tanning hides, they used to use urine to soften the leather hides, might not be that pleasant though. lol
