Have any of you guys heard about PTC124? What will it do?--does it really have the potential to basically cure people with CF with "nonsense" mutations??!?!?! I was just reading about it and it said that it improves chloride channels by inducing the production of the CFTR protein, the underlying cause of all the problems with CF, and so far in the trials it has had pretty positive results in helping lung functions and such...so, YOU LUCKY DUCKS WITH NONSENSE MUTATIONS (i think they are the ones that end in x, right?)!!!!!!! My god, wouldn't that be amazing if it turned out to be a cure for some people...
The only thing that stinks is my mutations are DDF508 and that doesnt count...sigh. But I'll get over it...if they are so close with this drug (??? correct me if I'm wrong) then they could be getting closer to the other mutations too!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg wouldnt that be amazing...what would you DO if they figured out something that could just all the sudden CURE you????? All the pain and coughing and infections and hospitals and doctors and treatments and nebs and meds and picc lines and surgeries and fev1's enzymes and missing school and thoughts about the future...GONE! JUST LIKE THAT! POOF! YOU'RE NORMAL!!! I have no idea how I would react, how COULD you react to something like that??...it would be unbelievable...sorry, a girl's gotta dream...but hey maybe someday soon it won't be just a dream anymore<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Oh yeah here's the thing I was reading I don't know how good a source this is so please correct me if I'm wrong.
