Non Dairy Weight Gainer?

Like most people here, I'm trying to put on a few healthy pounds. I'm currently 6'2, 160 pounds and I'd like to try and get up to 175. I'm interested to know if anyone knows a good non dairy weight gainer. I've done Scandishakes, but more recently I have tried to really limit the amount of dairy I consume because it makes my face breakout. I also try and eat healthy as much as possible and don't really want to just eat junk that will make me gain weight. I plan to step up my exercise routine if I find a good one and get in good shape. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

When I was a kid I was on something called 'Polycose powder'.. its just a supplemental calorie powder that you can mix into anything... mashed potatoes, gravy, smoothies, etc. It worked out pretty well for me and its mostly tasteless. I'm not sure if they have an improved version of that now or what, I'm sure someone here knows. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Sadly I don't really think there there's any 'quick fix' for weight... you just have to eat, and eat a lot. Someone in another thread said her bf was on 'hungry pills' so maybe you could even look into something like that, if your appetite is a problem (megestrol acetate).

Personally I have no more weight issues, I'm 5'2" 120~ish lbs, so definitely on the more 'meaty' side of a CFer lol. I think it partly might be due to genes (my mother is heavier) and partly due to the way I eat. I don't snack on 'snacks' I simply eat a small meal as a snack. So during the day I consume lots of random hamburgers, turkey sandwiches, bowls of soup, etc. The 'snack' type things I do eat are also pretty dense themselves, usually chips, jerky, nuts, vegetables with dip, olives, cheeses with bread. Also try getting up and making sure you get in all your meals. Have a nice big breakfast if you can... that's what seemed to make a difference for me in college, I gained a bit of weight there too.

I don't eat dairy either, so I thought I'd jump in. You may have already tried this, but for me, a little peanut butter everyday goes a long way. Almost as an experiment once when I randomly lost a couple pounds (which is a lot for me because I'm short) I added some sort of peanut butter snack -- on toast, celery, etc. -- everyday for a week and those 2 pounds came right back.

And as far as I know, the protein in peanut butter should give you fuel for your workouts -- I like making smoothies with soy milk, peanut butter and banana. But in general, all of the "healthy" fats (olive oil, avocados, salmon) shouldn't do you much harm. Hope this was remotely helpful!

I have a similar problem, dairy allergy that makes me cough. I have asked numerous dietitians how to add calories, they told me to eat dairy anyway and do extra breathing treatments. I could have kicked them.

I have eaten so much peanut butter I am about to turn into a peanut! But I admit, it does help. Also I love taking bread and soaking it with olive oil. I have found that if I up my fat intake I tend to put weight on easier. Peanut butter, olive oil, avocados.

I am desperate for non-dairy ideas too. I had a post on my blog asking for recipes and all I got was a comment with a recipe for chicken fettuccine alfredo.... ok, I can have the chicken, the broccoli and the pasta.... not much help. Upping the volume of healthy foods is the only helpful suggestion I have received. But there is only so much room in my tiny stomach!
