Hi everyone, I was just curious, as we are new to this, does anyone else experience frequent nose bleeds with their CF kids?

Thanks, LMK

I tend to get them here and there mostly during the start of allergy season. I also get them when the air is dry. If i use a saline nasal spray it helps and i get a lot less nose bleeds.

flonase was making my nose bleed. (so now I take zyrtec and singulair instead).
also, too many anti inflamatories (ibuprofen) can cause bleeding.
..those are my only two experiences with nose bleeds.

I get this pretty often in drier weather and climates. Normally winter is the worst for me because of the cold dry air. Also now that I have started using O2 that has contributed to the drying out and some bleeding.

I have found MY Godsend of a nose spray. It is Ayr - Nasal Saline Gel Spray. It is Saline, but since it is gel it is a little thicker consistency (so it isn't as runny as saline spray). Also it is a SPRAY - so unlike many gels you do not have to administer it with s qtip or anything like that - just spray it and tada! you are done. I love it since I started using it my nose bleeds have almost disappeared - in fact now I just get an occasional dry blood when I blow my nose but rarely if ever get a bloody nose.

Take Care,
Lindsey

I have had terrible nose bleeds from dryness only. Usually during the winter & especially when in the hospital during the winter. My daughter (no CF) gets them from dryness & allergies. I have used saline & she uses nasicort.
