nose suction question

using a bulb syringe on a 10mo baby with CF who presently has a cold and seeing a little blood and pinkness of mucus. should I worry? should I keep suctioning if he's still stuffed up?

Are you using saline spray? We always used simply saline to loosen things up, would also steam up the bathroom, let DS play in the tub for awhile to get things moving and then attack him with the bulb syringe. Should be fine as long as it's just a tiny amount. Otherwise DS had issues being able to eat if he couldn't breathe.

yes, a squirt of simply saline in each nostril before I start. I'll try the tub thing too. He's not doing too bad, still eating well and sleeping pretty good but I know that when I have a cold, the better I do at blowing all the junk out, the better I feel and the quicker I get over it. I'd think it's even more important for ds not to leave the mucus there to move into and cause problems in lungs, tummy, or ears. The amount of blood isn't more than I can see sometimes blowing my own nose, but it's more disconcerting when it's a little guy.
