NOT sinus? Then WHAT is it?

Josh had his ENT appointment today. The doc said his sinuses look good and the CT scan was unchanged (last time was good).

SO WHY is he having daily headaches, facial pressure, postnasal drip, nose bleeds, and a tickly cough?

He's been treated for "sinus infections" with five different ABX in the last four months- but none have worked on the symptoms.

We are so frustrated. We were convinced he was due for another sinus surgery. He just wants to feel better.

What else could it be?

Did they check him for an inflamed temporal artery...my symtoms were similiar and my internist found I had temporal arteritis which can be corrected with predisone. From what I was told...this does not show on CT scan...blood test is needed.

Just grasping for straws here, but has he been tested for allergies--the type where they prick your skin with hundreds of possible allergens & see what he reacts to?? That's all I can come up with. I sure hope you can get it figured out...

I think I would ask about allergy to fungus. With that many different antibiotics and all of those symptoms, it could definitely be fungus related. Allergy to fungus (including the allergy to fungus (yeast) growing in the gut) can mimmick infection. Have ya'll tried to stay away from sugary foods, limit sugary drinks which feed fungus and cause inflammation? Also, are they on probiotics?

These sound like my exact symptoms when I was diagnosed with allergy to yeast and related fungus. My infectious disease doc told me my fungus was growing so out of control in my gut that I actually had developed an allergy to it.

Has Josh been treated with an anti-fungal, yet? If it helps, then you know that is the issue. At that point, you can work on getting the fungus under control. We as cfers can get allergy to more than just aspergillus and it can mirror those symptoms almost exactly.
