OB appt

I had an OB check up today and everything went great. I only gained 1 lb since last month, but they're not concerned yet. They set my goal weight gain to be 15 lbs for the entire pregnancy. That seems like a bit of a low goal for me; I was expecting to at least hit 20 lbs. But maybe they set the bar low for CFers. They suspect I'll start gaining more rapidly now.

The baby's HR was in the 140's. It's getting closer to the "boy HR" again - haha.

I'll be going for my BIG ultrasound in about 2 weeks. I hope we can see the sex then! I'll also have an OGTT (1-hr test) that day at my request.

So that's about it. I'll be sure to post up the u/s pics in a couple weeks.

Great to hear Leah. 15 lbs sounds a bit low! Just set your personal goal higher. Expect to lose a lot of weight while you're exclusively breastfeeding - that seems to be the experience most of us have had. I gained 18 lbs and lost that plus another 10 in the first week or 2 after birth. So I'm trying for at least 20 lbs now, if not 25. I'm already up 2 lbs and I don't have a first trimester loss like I did w/ Logan's pregnancy to come back from. You'll do fine! Uterus plus amniotic fluid plus baby weighs about 1 lb right now. So you're fine <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Caroline,

Thanks for the encouragement. I agree - I'm shooting for 20-25 lbs as my personal goal. I've already started eating more today because I want to prove to myself that I can do better than that! I am slightly overweight already, so that also might put me at a lower weight gain, but I'm still going to try to get to at least 20 lbs. I do want that extra weight for when I breastfeed because I know that burns up a lot of calories.

Well for normal women, they say 25-35 lbs. lower end of the scale if you are overweight, upper end of the scale if you are underweight. So 25 lbs is still a good goal for you. Good for you for striving towards the goal.
