Hey, that really ticks me off too. I think there are two kinds of smokers, though. Those that are respectful and considerate not to smoke around other people, especially if they have medical issues. And those that don't give a s***. Those are the kind that I can't stand.

the smokers who are "considerate [enough] not to smoke around other people" are exactly the people who could say "at least I can still smoke in my car".

I know smoking is an addiction that is hard to fight for many people...but I've had 2 co-workers that have smoked. I've asked both of them if they had any idea what I'd give to have healthy lungs like they could have but for their habit!!!??? I know it's really not very fair of me to say that, but it just aggravates me so much!

Last week I went out with my former co workers for drinks. One of them who is very up on my health said that she started smoking again. I was so disgusted & disappointed with her. She had a nephew who died of an asthma attack & her youngest son is a severe asthmatic. Anyway I wasnt going to say anything to her until she asked what comment I had brewing because my face said it all. I said "I was just thinking how nice it must be to have a pair of healthy lungs like you have. I guess its a shame that I was born with sick lungs. Now I will never know the joy of taking a perfect pair of lungs & ruining them!" She started to cry, but that doesnt help does it!

I think it's the grosest when you see someone driving in their car at 8am with coffee in hand, smoking a cigarette AND the windows are rolled up! Holy Canoly!

After my first transplant, I would stop people on the street while I was taking in my exercise and say to them, You know i had a transplant but i never smoked but I know people who have and were lucky to have a transplant. Most of them said thank you and said I am trying to stop. My husband told me not to do this as he felt one day somone would start a fight with me. lol

I guess I saw many people who were transplanted from smoking. Well at least with the new allocation system cF patients get new lungs first over the smokers.

I do not feel sorry for smokers because the mind is very strong. IF they want to quit they will. I strongly believe that smokers must be depressed on some level. They know smoking is poison but they smoke anyway.

So glad smoking is banned from public places

I onced asked a friend of mine who is a smoker if he saw a bowl labeled "rat poison" but had milk next to it, would he pour milk in the bowl and eat the poison. "Of course not, that is just stupid!" He replied.

10 minutes later I asked to see his pack of cigarettes.... I took out a sharpie and wrote "RAT POISON" on them.

He quit 2 months ago... Still occasionally smokes one or two when we go out for drinks but it is much better then the pack+ a day he used to smoke. And now we can hang out more!
