Ofloxacin

I have a clinic apt Friday - my last one before I have only my husband's crappola insurance - so I am going to ask for a supply of antibiotics to have around just in case. In my <i>Medications and Mother's Milk</i> book, Hale says that Ofloxacin is a better drug to use for breastfeeding than Cipro when fluoroquinolines are needed. I responded fantastically to Cipro, but I am unwilling to stop breastfeeding right now. As I said, I don't feel badly, I just want a just in case antibiotic on hand since after the 31st I will have to pay 80% for all my meds (bah humbug!) So, does anyone know if Ofloxaxin is a good choice for PA flare ups, etc.?

Ofloxaxin is not a good choice for PA.

The best quinolone for PA is Cipro, hands down. Not all quinolones have equal efficacy for PA. And if you use an antibiotic that doesn't have max efficacy for a bacteria, you are more likely to induce resistance
