This morning our neighborhood had a poweroutage for about two hours..So, I put the pulmozyme boxes in the freezer...Well, when the power kicked on I grabed one box, but left one box in the freezer...I know they have to be frozen....Do I toss them out...or is it okay?

Thanks,

Sarah

I cringe as I write this, but they have to be trashed based upon the mfg's storage information.

You can try thawing and see what your clinic's RT says but I would assume it is gone <img src="">

Edited to add: there have been discussions on here before that you can leave Pulmozyme at room temp for several hours, so in the future I'd just ride it out rather than risk another pulmo-pop tragedy.

Hahaha, sorry I had to laugh b/c that's the first time I've heard of someone freezing their medicine. Usually the concern is over leaving it out in room temp too long. I know it's really not funny when you think about the costs but at the same time, you have to find a sense of humor somewhere with all our CF problems or you'll go crazy. We had a power outage before and decided to go to the gas station and buy some ice and a big styrofoam container and leave it in there during the outage. However, like others have mentioned, it does say it is still ok to use if it's in room temperature for a few hours. I hope you don't have any trouble getting a replacement box. I'd call the pharmacy and explain what happened and maybe they will be kind enough to do that. Good luck!
