I know this topic has been discussed to death, but I just decided to try it (OO)and I searched for dosage info, got lazy and quit, and just decided to ask instead.

How much water soluble OO is everyone nebulizing? How many times a day? Do you mix it with other meds? Is it ok to mix with other meds (like Tobi)?

Thanks alot

I mix mine with albuterol, and do that twice a day. For each session I add 6-7 drops of the water soluble OO and neb that. Then at night I do that again. As far as doseage goes, it depends on what level of CF progression you are in and what you can tolerate. Some people have fits with pulmozyme and tobi, and a few people haven't been able to tolerate OO at all. I'm fine with it. I recommend you start at say 3 drops per session twice a day, and then gauge where you are feeling at the end of the week, then if you aren't noticing feeling better with lung sysmptoms and generally how you feel, add a drop or two and wait and see another week. Honestly, 6 or 7 drops per session is pretty strong, and it might be overkill, because I was feeling fine at 3-4 drops per session. I upped the dose when my sinuses were a tad drippy. Some people view OO as a form of natural antibiotic to inhale only when they are feeling gunky, to clear it up. I personally just stay on it so I don't get nasty to begin with. Your stuff can't get resistant to it anyways.

Be careful with what you mix it with. I doubt it would ever harm any other substance, but very delicate drugs like pulmozyme state not to mix it with any other chemicals period, so...That's why I just mix it with albuterol. If you don't use albuterol, you can just use sterile/distilled water.

I started with 3 drops and have progressed to 5. I think I will be holding at 5. Also remember if you are doing this it's supposed to more effective with the monolaurin. Good Luck!

Yeah monolaurin helps to weaken the bacteria outter cell wall, while oregano really hurts it, so it's a good one-two combination. I haven't taken monolaurin in a while due to being lazy and feeling fine on just oregano oil and collistin. I think collistin acts similarly like monolaurin, so i'm still getting a one-two punch.

Coltsfan and I both had 24-7 wheezing that restricted our breathing and made it so we were unable to clear our mucus as usual at around 6-8 weeks on inhaled mycelized oil of oregano. The wheezing is gone - not sure I'll ever inhale it again but the benefits in the first few weeks seemed great. Maybe better for infection treating than long term?

No idea. For those that have those problems, it might be best to use it more for infection treating, or maybe even one month on, one month off (but possibly only use it for two weeks then stop for the on month). Don't know what to tell you, I have been on it now for a real long time (coming closer to a year now) and I still feel amazing and never experiened that. Just goes to show everything might not be for everybody.
